The Redcliffe Peninsula is about 40 minutes’ drive from Brisbane, which makes it an easy weekend away. Here is a relaxed two- to three-day Redcliffe itinerary built around the Sunday markets.
Friday: arrive and settle in
Check in from 3pm, then walk to Scarborough Beach Park or Scarborough Boat Harbour, both about 15 minutes on foot from our villa. Pick up fish and chips from Morgans at the harbour, or book a table at the Moreton Bay Boat Club or Tempest Seafood Restaurant.
Saturday: beaches and the bay
Start early on the Moreton Bay Cycleway, which runs 11 km south from Scarborough Beach along the foreshore. Stop at the Redcliffe Jetty and Bee Gees Way, then cool off at Settlement Cove Lagoon or swim between the flags at Suttons Beach when the lifesavers are on patrol. Finish with sunset at Woody Point Jetty, which looks west over Bramble Bay.
Sunday: markets morning
The Redcliffe Markets run every Sunday on Redcliffe Parade beside the jetty, 8am to 2pm from March to November and 7am to 1pm from December to February. Get there early for parking. Check-out is by 10am, so on a two-night stay go to the markets after you pack up.
Staying longer?
With three or four nights you can add a day trip to Bribie Island (over the bridge), the Glass House Mountains or Brisbane by train from Kippa-Ring.
