Newport Marina, at 158 Griffith Road, Newport, is a residential estate marina with gated berths. It has no restaurants or cafes on the water; the nearest shops are a short walk away. Translink bus 699 stops outside, at Griffith Road/Newport Marina. It is about 4 minutes’ drive from our villa.
Scarborough Boat Harbour: where to eat by the boats
For a meal next to the boats, go to Scarborough Boat Harbour on Bird O’Passage Parade, about 1 km from the villa:
- Morgans Seafood: a fish market and takeaway, running since 1986.
- Moreton Bay Boat Club: a restaurant, bar and cafe with a deck over the marina.
The harbour is a state boat harbour with a public boat ramp. Inside it, Scarborough Marina has 235 berths, a 35-tonne travel lift and dry stack storage for power boats up to 9 m.
Is it good for families?
Yes. Watch the boats come and go, get takeaway from Morgans, then walk to Scarborough Beach Park, where the Moreton Bay Cycleway starts.
